Jaume de Puntiro
The vineyard bodega Jaume de Puntiró in Santa Maria is a small, family run wine estate which produces wines from organically cultivated vines.
The name, 'Jaume de Puntiró' is the nickname for the founder of the winery, Jaume Calafat. The Calafat family has owned the Puntiró manor house in Santa Maria for 230 years and has always been referred to in the village as the 'Puntiró' family.
The present day winery was founded in 1981 by Pere Calafat's father. Facilities at the Jaume de Puntiró wine estate were slowly renovated and the winery was able to extend its range of wines to include white, rosé, sweet and 'crianza' wines as well as new grape varieties in its vineyards.
Pere believes the wines stand out because of their 'warm, Mediterranean flavour and because they are so easy on the pallet'. The Jaume de Puntiró wines are unique because of the native grape varieties used to make them.
The winery is committed to producing something unique, different and native to the island. The winery strives to produce wines which give the drinker the opportunity to enjoy a wine which they know is more exclusively Mallorcan.
It is important also to point out that the Jaume de Puntiró wines are all produced organically.
