Digging the Gigs!

Music in April in Mallorca

Hello hello hola Mallorca!

We hope you are making the most of this wonderful spring weather and enjoying everything there is to see and do in Mallorca, which is A LOT. In fact, there are so many must-go gigs just this weekend, we'd like to be able to clone ourselves and attend them all!

Friday 15th: Classical, Pop, Electronic, Jazz, Blues... ¡todo!

This will be a day for some decision-making as there are several simultaneous and equally atractive gigs:

  • Oliva Trencada will be presenting their new album, Perleta Negra, at the Museu Es Baluard. A very appropriate venue for the unique, delicious music of this Mallorcan band.

  • Classical music fans should head to the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró to enjoy the next concert in the Chamber Music Cycle with the Balearic Symphonic Orchestra, which will feature Enrique Sánchez on the Flute and Sebastià Pou on the Violin performing works of Telemann, Pleyel and Genzmer.

  • If you're into electronic music, iconic avantgarde singer-songwriter-actress-producer Najwa Nimri is bringing her latest album "The last primate" to Abraxas. Her music moves from surprise to fascination with bold and honest lyrics and melds electronic waves and organic sounds.

  • As is usual at Jazz Voyeur Club, there is a fantastic free gig this Friday: Cubayuma brings the most authentic of Cuban Son, Trova, Boleros and Guaracha with just a guitar, two voices, trumpet and percussion to transmit with freshness the nostalgia and rhythms of the island.

  • Es Punt Café Concert is also coming alive with the heart and soul performance of Jaye Kaye “The bird” on guitar, Brahm “Sparky B” on bass and Diego Ferral on drums. A great band and a great place for a night out!

Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th: Soul in the night, Jazz in the sun

  • Another favourite venue of ours, Hotel Saratoga, will be featuring the classic Soul Band from Mallorca, Soul Cafe on Satuday night. Enjoy the music while you have a drink on the top floor. Classic!

  • And because anything and everything happens in Mallorca, you can also enjoy a great concert in broad daylight. That's right: at Sa Taronja Cultural Association in Andratx, you may gorge on an amazing BBQ while you take in the great sounds of the Jazz Drifters who will be playing in the Sunday sunshine. Book your table now to avoid disappointment as these events draw lots of well deserved attention!

It seems Mallorca is not only the paradise of Sun, Sea and Sand, but also the place to be for all music fans ;)

So in love with this island!
