International Gay & Lesbian film Festival

 International Gay and Lesbian, will be holding its annual festival on the island from Friday 3rd June until Sunday 12th June.

Now in its 6th year the film festival draws some of the most significant figures from the gay and lesbian film community and prominent figures of culture and art who will meet on the island over the 10 days, view and discuss over 37 films that have recently been produced and come from all different parts of the world.

Through film, the festival aims to promote respect for diversity, and understanding of the reality of everyday life for gays and lesbians everywhere. The films focus on many different genres including comedy, drama, suspense and action.

This festival is designed for all lovers of film, and is reflected in the diverse crowd that it usually attracts.

Sasha, confronted with the everyday prejudice of his homophobic immigrant family, struggles with his urge to come out. When his beloved piano teacher Gebhard Weber plans to leave the city, the young man is heartbroken. After a failed audition, Sasha swears never to play piano again. A consoling telephone call from Gebhard causes a turn of events. When the next morning all secrets are exposed Sasha’s father doesn’t hesitate to take out a gun.

In an odd twist, Piero not only betrays temporarily his faithful and sporty boyfriend, Remo, but also his political loyalties, letting Adele take more and more space in his life.
