Superyacht Cup 2011

SUPERYACHT CUP -  22nd - 25th June

Since being established in 1996, the annual Superyacht Cup is the longest running superyacht regatta in Europe attracting over 200 sailing superyachts to the event during its 15 year history.

Each June some of the world’s largest privately owned sailing yachts over 24m, descend on Mallorca’s magnificent capital Palma to take part in the four day invitational regatta.

Held in the ideally located Muelle Viejo which is close to the stunning cathedral La Seu and the charming old town of Palma. Also with its great selection of shops, bars and restaurants it’s a great place for such an event to be held.

This year is no exception and the dock is literally overflowing with an impressive line-up of more than 16 spectacular super yachts.

Unless you have access to a boat where you can be close to the action and watch the race from the water, which is probably the ideal location. You may want to check out some of the best places where you can sit back, relax and enjoy the action for afar.

One of the great places to enjoy the views of these amazing boats would be Nassau Beach Club in Portixol. Why not enjoy lunch on the terrace overlooking the beach and the bay while you catch a glimpse of these great yachts ploughing through the water.

Or you could choose to sit back, sip a cocktail and watch these amazing boats is the Bar Varadero which is situated at the end of the Moll.

The event is hosting an open dock on the morning of Saturday 25th June where the dock is open to the public and you can wander around and check out some of the amazing vessels on display.

There will be 3 days of racing, as well as the usual fun filled après sail activities which are always part of the regatta.

The Superyachts will be racing in the Bay of Palma from Thursday 23rd to Saturday 25th June. Open dock is on Saturday 25th 9am to 1pm.
