This easy half-day drive takes in a few of the family attractions that are in easy reach from the north east coast. It can also be done as a day trip from Palma, which will add on approximately 1.5 hours to the driving time.

The route:

Look at starting the drive by the OlivArt factory shop in Manacor. You'll see this as you enter Manacor on the C715 from Palma. From Manacor follow the signs to Porto Cristo, leaving Manacor via the palm tree lined boulevard.

After approximately 13 kilometers you'll come across the Coves dels Hams. You can either choose to stop here and enjoy the Coves or you can continue on to Porto Cristo for the Coves del Drac. Check out information on the Coves del Drac by looking at Digame's activity section for kids.

If you choose to drive on, you need to follow the road to Porto Cristo, where you turn left at the seafront up a steep hill, following signs to Son Servera and Cala Millor. This road leads you through orchards which are divided by typical Mallorca drystone walls. Keep driving along this road until you reach the Auto-Safari where you can drive around the zoo and check out the animals.

Check out more information on the Safari Zoo by looking at Digame's activity section for kids.

Once you've enjoyed the Safari Zoo, you'll need to continue north, by passing Cala Millor and then turning left into Son Servera, where you'll then turn right towards Capdepera. In the distance you'll see the castle on the hillside which overlooks the village.

Why not stop here for lunch and take some time out to climb to the castle. If after all that exercise you feel like enjoying an afternoon lazing on the beach then take the side road to Cala Mesquida.

However if you want to explore, further then take the C715 onto Arta. Again you see the town in the distance long before you get there. After exploring Arta, why not take to the coast and follow the C712 coast road around the bay of Alcudia. Check out Digame's drives around Pollensa & Alcudia in the Driving routes section.

You'll pass the amazing S'Albufera nature reserve before finally reaching Alcudia.

After such a busy day, it will only take you just under an hour to return to Palma taking the C713 and joining the motorway at Inca.

Duration: 3 hours
Distance: 90km
